Hello, and welcome to my world.

My name is Rita. I am Bédik, from the Kédougou region of Senegal, in West Africa.

I’m a country girl, and I’m taking you with me to discover city life — its beauty, its culture, its stories, its food, its people and its everyday rhythm.

Here, you will see life as it really is, through my eyes.

You will meet extraordinary people, hear stories you have never heard, see places you may never have seen, and live those unexpected moments that make every journey special.

I am here to show you that beautiful stories can begin anywhere — even in the smallest village or the smallest town.

— Rita

What you will find here

  • Stories about people — the ones you pass every day without knowing what they carry.
  • Places, from the village where I come from to the cities I am discovering.
  • Food, culture and the small details of daily life.
  • And my own journey, with its surprises, its questions and its laughter.

Why “through my eyes”?

Many people talk about Africa. I want to show you what I see, where I stand. Not a postcard — real people, real stories, real life.

If you want to come along, the best way is to subscribe on YouTube and join The Rita Letter. I would love to know where you are watching from.

The Rita Letter

Stories, discoveries and personal notes from Rita.

The things that don’t fit in a video: what happened behind the camera, the people I met, the questions you asked me — once a week or every two weeks, never more.
